There are several types depending on the number of teeth the patient is missing:

Complete removable prosthesis:

The complete removable prosthesis, best known as “dentures,” is placed in patients who have no remaining teeth and do not want or cannot have dental implants placed.

Partial removable: prosthesis

The removable partial prosthesis is a prosthesis that is attached to the adjacent teeth by means of hooks or retainers and rests on the gum.

Disadvantages of the removable dental prosthesis:

As they are not attached to the bone, they have mobility, which causes a loss of gum and bone over time. Due to this bone loss, it is more difficult to place dental implants in patients who have been wearing removable dental prostheses for many years.
They are uncomfortable, as they can cause sores, and in many cases, require the use of adhesives to hold them in place so you can eat and talk.
Over time, due to bone loss, they become misaligned and require modifications.
In the case of removable partial dentures, the hooks wear down and even break the teeth to which they are attached.
