Frequently asked questions
When is it advisable to make a first visit?
One of the questions that many parents ask themselves is when they should bring their children to the clinic, since they are unaware of the importance of pediatric dentistry.
At Abaden, we recommend that the first visit be made at the age of three at the latest, to detect possible dental problems in time and offer guidelines for the oral hygiene routine, both for the child and for the parents. In addition to adapting the child to the consultation with the aim of losing the “fear” of the dentist.
Why is it so important for children to go to the dentist? Importance of pediatric dentistry
Going only if a cavity is detected or when the child has discomfort is a frequent but not advisable practice, the importance lies in the prevention and correction of the factors that predispose to them. Most of the children who come to the consultations for check-ups become good patients when it comes to treatment, since they know the staff and are willing to collaborate. On the other hand, when they arrive for the first time due to a problem and with pain, the attention is complicated. Therefore, we recommend that visits to the dentist be made annually and for dental check-ups, even if there are no apparent problems.
Is it advisable to treat cavities in baby teeth?
It may seem that having a cavity in baby teeth is not important. However, if it is not treated, it can affect the dental pulp and also the eruption of permanent teeth. In addition, the pain and discomfort for the child.
When should you brush your teeth?
Even before the first tooth appears, the baby’s gums should be cleaned after each feeding. For this, a moistened gauze can be used. The child should never be left for long periods or fall asleep with the bottle, as prolonged contact with the sugars in milk predisposes to the appearance of cavities.
When teething begins, the brush is started to be used without toothpaste until 2 years. From then on, infant paste is started in small quantities. It is important that adult pastes are not used because the concentrations of fluoride are not suitable for children.
