What is a 3D Dental CT Scan?

At Abaden centers, we always want to offer the most accurate diagnosis. For this reason, we have a high-definition 3D CT scan that improves image quality for the diagnosis and monitoring of treatments in different dental specialties: maxillofacial surgery, dental implants, orthodontics, etc.

The C.B.C.T (Cone Beam Computer Tomography) is the dental CT scan used at Abaden Centers. The main advantage of this scanner compared to conventional CT scans (offered in hospitals and other clinics) is that it has radiation levels for the patient that are 75 times lower than those of conventional CT scans.

What is a dental CT scan used for?

The CT scan allows a three-dimensional X-ray of the patient to be taken. From this image, once processed with the corresponding program, we obtain the necessary information about:

The quality and quantity of bone.
The anomalies or diseases of the teeth.
The path of the nerves and blood vessels.
The exact position of the jaws.

In this way, the CT scan allows the medical team to make a more precise diagnosis of the dental structure, which will improve the design of the treatment plan and help us to perform the interventions with greater guarantees.

What are the benefits of a 3D Dental CT Scan?

Lower Radiation: The radiation emitted by the C.B.C.T is 75 times lower than conventional CT scans.
Comfort: In the C.B.C.T, the patient is seated or standing, in a non-claustrophobic environment.
Speed in performance: The images are obtained in 15 seconds and processed in 30 seconds.
Comfortable position for the patient: In the C.B.C.T, the patient is seated or standing, in a non-claustrophobic environment.
Avoids mobility. The patient takes the test in the same clinic, avoiding having to travel to another center.

It has multiple indications in dentistry due to the information it provides us for a more precise diagnosis. Your dentist will indicate if you need to perform the dental CT scan before the procedure.

Are there risks if I am pregnant?

It is recommended not to perform any X-rays, unless the dentist considers that the benefits outweigh the risks. If X-rays are required, it is better to do them in the second trimester.
