Frequently asked questions
In which cases are full-mouth dental implants recommended?
It is indicated in patients who wish to recover the function and aesthetics of one or both arches in a single session while relaxing.
What advantages do fixed prostheses offer compared to removable prostheses?
At Abaden, we do not perform overdentures (removable complete dentures combined with osseointegrated implants), as we believe that fixed prostheses provide greater stability and allow for better chewing and phonation.
How long does the full-mouth dental implant procedure last?
It usually lasts about four hours.
Will I feel pain?
Thanks to dental sedation, the patient will not notice anything and will be in a deep state of relaxation similar to sleep at all times. This way, we can place the full-mouth dental implants without the patient suffering any pain.
Are there any risks associated with full-mouth dental implants?
There are some cases in which we may encounter problems with the integration of the implant with the bone, either due to infection or biological causes. These cases are very rare in our centers.
Is it necessary to replace the first prosthesis?
It is recommended, but not necessary. The first prosthesis is designed to function while the implants integrate into the bone (6-12 months). In most cases, after this period, it is replaced with a more resistant prosthesis, although some of our patients have been wearing the first prosthesis for more than 8 years.
How often should I have a check-up of my full-mouth dental implants?
An annual check-up is performed in which the dentist performs a cleaning (of both the implants and the gums and prosthesis) to ensure long-term durability of the treatment. Over time, the placed prosthesis suffers wear and tear derived from the pressures exerted when chewing (just as happens with normal teeth). The durability of the prosthesis will depend on the characteristics of each person and the proper use and maintenance that is carried out. Over time, the prosthesis may need to be repaired (in case of fracture) or replaced with a new one (in case of severe wear).
