What is radiology?

Radiology is the medical and dental specialty that deals with generating images of the inside of the body using rays and using these images for the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment planning of diseases of the body and the oral cavity.

Orthopantomography

An orthopantomography is a panoramic radiograph that shows all the oral structures in two dimensions. It gives the dentist and patient additional information about the teeth and their supporting structures.

Teleradiography

Teleradiography is a radiological technique characterized by being taken from outside the patient’s mouth at a certain distance. It can be a profile or frontal view.

3D Dental CT Scan

The C.B.C.T (Cone Beam Computer Tomography) improves image quality for the diagnosis and monitoring of treatments. It is specially designed for performing dental CT scans. Its main advantage is that it has lower radiation levels for the patient than conventional CT scans.

Who is it for?

It is necessary in cases where additional information is required about the teeth and their supporting structures in order to make a good diagnosis and treatment plan.

Is dental radiation harmful?

Any radiograph, whether dental or medical, has radiation. However, dental radiation has very low radiation doses compared to medical radiation. The 3-dimensional CT scan that we offer at Abaden Diagonal called C.B.C.T has radiation levels for the patient 75 times lower than those of conventional CT scans.

How long do dental X-rays last?

Radiographs can be taken directly at our Abaden centers. Depending on the type of radiograph, the duration can vary from a few seconds to 1 minute.

Is it necessary to take X-rays in all cases?

Normally, the patient has a feeling of well-being after sedation. However, it is common. For a correct diagnosis, the necessary radiographs are taken as indicated by the dentist, always thinking about the patient’s safety.

Is there any risk if I am pregnant?

It is recommended not to perform any X-rays, unless the dentist considers that the benefits outweigh the risks. If X-rays are required, it is better to do them in the second trimester.

The treatment is cordial, the facilities are clean and modern (as is the equipment used) and the professionals focus a lot on the patient and their comfort. In my particular case, I had to have a cleaning and a root canal, both procedures have been painless and the results excellent.
